Researcher's Corner

BECOME AN EVALUATION EXPERT

The European Commission (EC) appoints independent experts to assist in the evaluation of proposals and programmes, project monitoring and design of policies, within the framework of Horizon 2020.

More information can be found here.

In order to transfer to the EC your interest in taking part in the process, the evaluator must fulfill their profile in the Participant Portal.

BE INVOLVED IN EUROPE

The ceiA3 International Projects Office helps researchers to increase the visibility of their research results and findings at a European and international level, by dinamyzing the cooperation in European agrifood networks and encouraging the exchange of practices.

Some interesting programmes are:

European Innovation Partnership (EIP): EIPs act across the whole research and innovation chain, bringing together all relevant actors at EU, national and regional levels in order to: (i) step up research and development efforts; (ii) coordinate investments in demonstration and pilots; (iii) anticipate and fast-track any necessary regulation and standards; and (iv) mobilise ‘demand’ in particular through better coordinated public procurement to ensure that any breakthroughs are quickly brought to market. Rather than taking the above steps independently, as is currently the case, the aim of the EIPs is to design and implement them in parallel to cut lead times.

Concerning the EIP-Agri, DG Agriculture and Rural Development launches frequently calls for experts to join a Focus Groups (groups of selected experts: researchers, farmers, advisors, people from the worlds of business and NGOs...) focusing on a specific subject, while sharing knowledge and experience. Each group explores practical innovative solutions to problems or opportunities in the field, and draws on experience derived from related useful projects.

More information can be found here.

COST Actions: COST Actions give the opportunity to European researchers to jointly develop their own ideas in any science and technology field. COST contributes to reducing the fragmentation in European research investments and opening the European Research Area to cooperation worldwide. These actions do NOT fund research activities; they are conceived to celebrate activities as workshops, conferences, training schools, short-term scientific missions (STSMs), and dissemination activities. It increases the mobility of researchers across Europe and fosters the establishment of scientific excellence in the nine key science and technology fields:

1. Biomedicine and Molecular Biosciences;
2. Food and Agriculture;
3. Forests, their Products and Services;
4. Materials, Physics and Nanosciences;
5. Chemistry and Molecular Sciences and Technologies;
6. Earth System Science and Environmental Management;
7. Information and Communication Technologies;
8. Transport and Urban Development;
9. Individuals, Societies, Cultures and Health.
